How to Introduce Math at an Early Age

We may have heard it plenty of times before, but math is indeed everywhere, and we experience it in our daily lives. From cutting PB&J sandwiches in half and portioning food for lunch to checking the time to go to a Day Care in Gaithersburg, Maryland, we can introduce and slowly immerse your children with math.

Because we see math wherever we go, opportunities to learn them are everywhere as well. We have to identify and take advantage of these opportunities to introduce our little ones to early mathematics.

For example, doing chores can be a learning opportunity by incorporating math. When setting the table, kids can count the plates, utensils, and glasses needed for everyone in the family. Toddlers can sort and count their toys according to size or color as they put them in their toy baskets.

Those are only some ways to include math in everyday life, and there’s so much more. And it is our role as their caretaker to guide and teach them to learn these concepts at an early age. Additionally, when you send them to a Preschool, their teachers can expand on the knowledge they already have.

At Top Hat Childcare, a School in Maryland, we encourage your toddlers’ development through various programs, including math! If you want to know more, please don’t hesitate to give us a call at 240-813-0713! We look forward to discussing with you the educational needs of your children.
